If you walk down to the harbour you will see the cross the stands
for the men and women who lost their lives in search of a promise land
this is where you’ll find old Billy starin’ out upon the sea...
He gave all a man could give on the night of the storm
when his ship went down twenty-six had drowned
his wife never made it to shore
she cried, "I know you’ll find me Billy," then the sea swept her away
fifty years ago today...

You can hear a bell tolling from the harbour on the hill
when the seagulls cry their lonesome cry for a moment life stands still
let the sea be calm for you Billy won’t you come in from the rain
the tide she waits for no one...come in...before she steals another away

more than ten feet wide they go on for miles one for every woman and man
this is where you’ll find her Billy watchin’ over promise land...

she became Queen Esther for her people she did stand
when a law was made to annihilate the Jewish people in the land
